Skinny Love by Bon Iver I realize I am a bit late in discovering how amazing this song is, but I will share nonetheless. It makes me feel so much emotion and cold and winter, but in a good way, and it leaves me so contented. 

Fuck You by Cee Lo Green I cannot wait for this album to come out! And such a cute music video. I first heard this song during an epic dance party in a dimly lit basement, what could be better than that?

Spinette by Arp & Anthony Moore And now to turn to something completely different...a simplistic modern classical percussive piece that fits together perfectly and it amazing for reading by. (Free download yay!!)

20 Dollar Nose Bleed by Fall Out Boy Yes, I still love them. It is so unexpectedly soulful!

Dreams (Cranberries Cover) by Passion Pit Everything Passion Pit touches is magical. Therefore they need to touch more things. Agreed?

Madder Red by Yeasayer I am naturally drawn to songs with epic sort of chants, I just feel like it gives it such a triumphant mood. Yes this music video is quite strange, so I would recommend listening to the song itself first, then looking at it later, because it is that weird. Again, I love everything Yeasayer does, so def check out everything else.

Long time no see. Its been a crazy summer. But now that I'm back at college I've just been dancing!

The past 24 hours have been crazy! Saw Sex and the City 2 with the group, loved it (especially the clothes)! Started receiving letters from college friends. My dear rabbit died. . . but he lived a long good life, and I already miss him terribly. I have a modeling gig at a vintage clothing store tonight that I am pumped about. And I am super close to getting a job. That is pretty much it. And I haven't even been home two weeks!

Minus the Bear concert on friday was phenomenal! Definitely one of the best shows I have ever seen. And they played my favorite song, Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse, last. I just about died. Why not also check out Pachuca Sunrise while you're at it. Pictures:

Put this song on first, just cause I like it, not really because it has anything to do with any of these pictures. And prepare to be slightly bombarded because I have been putting off putting up photos for quite a while now.

Motion City Soundtrack concert. I'm still trying to figure out my camera but I think I did pretty well here. Also, concert pictures suffer in general because I am so short and pretty much have to hoist the camera as high as I can in order to avoid the tops of heads.

My roommate Jordan and I stuck in the car during the crazy Nashville flooding. This was after about five hours in standstill traffic. Eek!

I went to a formal and came back looking pretty nice, so we decided to do a photo shoot. It was hilarious because I am not particularly photogenic and Amy was making funny faces at me the whole time. I should've been asleep hours ago.

I got my first blisters today carrying my microwave out to my car (or rather blister-like-red-marks-that-burned). Its move out time already, so soon. Im excited to get back to the Woodlands but a large part of me just wants to stay here forever. Its such a mix of feelings. This new song, Daisy by Fang Island, is helping the transition though. And I'm loving the simplicity of the video, its phenomenal. We did the craziest cleaning job of my life and I'm all ready to go. Tomorrow I just have to play in my jury and then stick around for a bit. But just thought I'd put some good music on here cause I can't help but sharing. Also you must watch this video: Jump In the Pool by Friendly Fires. Yes I am aware of how amazing it is. But anyways, that is all, more later I'm sure.

And may I just add that pitch black dorms at four in the morning are terrifying, sight singing is officially my worst nightmare, and I have a strong desire to just stay outside all day (probably since its suddenly so gorgeous). My phone came in today! Finally. Im also tweaking about how amazing this nature photography is, especially "Elephant Cathedral." Its nice to be finishing things, tomorrow I will have finished three classes. I just have to remember that I can't be done yet, not when there are still things to do (like practice for my jury . . .) However, I cannot believe I am packing up already and stuffing everything I own into my tiny Eclipse and driving it home. That will definitely be an experience. All of life is lately. I enjoy it. Oh also, I have an exciting set of pictures to post soon (we will make it a surprise) but get excited!

Well hello again, its been a while. Hopefully this will make up for that:

Discovery credit and much thanks for this one go to my friend Katie. This is perfection. Its so pure and absolutely gorgeous. I also recently purchased the new MGMT record Congratulations. Im not immediately wowed, but I am letting it sink in for a while before I fully decide (cause I so badly want it to blow my mind!) I've been without a phone for quite a few days now, I'm treating it as a cleansing sort of experience. Its been ok except the part where I find myself wandering around campus often looking for people cause I can't call them (absurd, I know). My four shots of espresso and serious lack of sleep are starting to work against me and not really in an amusing way. I also went to the Film Festival and saw the controversial and weird set of short films, which included a film called Feeder (its crazy, we couldn't stop talking about it.) I feel pretty good today cause I just turned in a big research paper. However, my teacher commented that it was radical, and I would like to say that if writing on the daily lives of ancient Romans is radical, I'm not sure what is normal. I am about to go play a concert, the first of THREE this week. Oh goodness, at least its almost summer!

Life has been crazy, no time to do anything, including sleep. Saw an amazing concert last week: Motion City Soundtrack, and a band I had never heard of called fun. Im quite obsessed with them. Check out Be Calm. Note how totally epic his voice is at the end. Hope you love it!

Genius. Seriously. I just want to sit down and talk with these guys cause most of the time I feel like they are singing about my life. They are great at being deep but not really serious and uptight. It just makes me so content to listen to their music. And this song is so good. There are so many little details so you hear new things every time. And the lyrics are never predictable. Make sure you check out the rest of the cd too, you will not be disappointed.

So I just got back from my easter trip to Chicago. I have no pictures. Typical. I think that some people find that taking pictures adds to their experiences but for me it just sorta distracts me from it. So I suppose what happens in Chicago, stays in Chicago. Im just kidding, nothing sketch happened. Who do you think I am? Just lots of driving, meeting people and eating. Solid weekend.

But now back to school ( I find myself saying that a lot lately, do I really leave that often?). Right away I met with my advisor about next semester. I had planned on calming down and trying to give myself a little more free time but that got shot down almost immediately. Oh and summer school was suggested, thats how ridiculous the amount of things I want to do has become. I have to do it all though, I always do. Anyways, I am supposed to be reading Plutarch but honestly I am much more interested in Ovid and his scandals. Computers are so distracting. People are distracting. Life is distracting. I love it but it will be the death of me one day, seriously.

Today I discovered Stephen by Ke$ha.

Ke$ha is legit k? This is the side of her that the mainstream isnt hearing, and its absolutely fantastic. Dont misunderstand though, the stuff on the radio is pretty sweet too. But this song, seriously, super unexpected and impressive. The opening had me hooked immediately, definitely has some Queen influence in there. Im even going to go so far as to say that I hear a bit of Kristin Chenoweth in this. I started listening to this song and had to go back and check that it was her. Listen to Animal and Your Love is My Drug too, they are all really good. Ya I have a bit of an obsession starting. I also love watching videos of her just being ridiculous. Check this one out, I wish I had been there to see this go down.

The past 48 hours have been absolutely ridiculous. Somehow I managed to get a bit of sleep in between going to classes, studying for two crazy tests (that I think I aced), going to an amazing a capella concert, practicing, going to an art show to see my roommate's art (which is fantastic), and reading an absurd number of ancient world plays. And now I am feeling quite accomplished. I don't have any classes tomorrow! so Im planning on just getting a whole bunch of odds and ends done, maybe a haircut, getting a henna tattoo, going to a Bach festival. Should be really solid. But I'll let you know.

Today I am listening to Swim by Surfer Blood.

This was the closing song at the concert I saw a few weeks ago. Its just got a great sound and energy. It makes me happy and makes me think of summer. I do love the surf rock sort of genre. Relax for a sec and check it out.

My stomach hates me today. I was trying to save money so i combined lunch and dinner, which ended up being a bowl of spaghettios and a candy bar. Then I decided I was hungry at like 11:00 so we made a pretty epic mcdonalds run. Tomorrow will be a healthy day for sure.

This weekend has been pretty solid. Friday was the first real spring-like day this year so everyone was out and we went to a park to do some sporty stuff. Of course, I would decide to climb this huge tree and then not be able to get down.

I also made a trip to Radnor lake, which is just this huge gorgeous park near the city. It was a bit chilly but we got really close to some deer!

Then I went to the belmont baseball game (and we won!) and then explored east nashville which is officially my favorite part of the city. I ate at the first restaurant here that has earned the right to call itself a mexican restaurant (in my opinion). Then after all this I went to see the country showcase at school, which was really good and all, but it was country, so i zoned out a bit, not going to lie. Then today I was just productive. well, until I decided I

was hungry, then now Im up late cause of it. But I am going to Bongo Java in the morning, which always oddly excites me but of course to counteract that, I have a performance which I am slightly anxious about (most cause I dont know what I am playing yet). Ya ill figure that out sometime soon.

I also found a flower in the trashcan tonight that was totally

nice, so we constructed a makeshift wall vase with a plastic bag and some tape that I am quite proud of. Maybe it will catch on and be the new trend. Im also proud of myself for putting up pictures finally. Enjoy!

Hey, time for a new format (I like change). I need new colors on this thing too but I tried and it looked like someone smashed a parrot all over the website. So yea, Ill try that again later and hopefully be more successful. So its technically friday on one of the longest weeks ever. Ive been back at college for four days and it feels like its been months. I also got a sneak peak of summer over spring break so now I am just craving it even worse. But the sun came out today! and so did the rest of the world, the sidewalks were busy.

Today I am listening to Dance Anthem of the 80s by Regina Spektor. Ive gotten over the fact that I waited by the back door in the sleeting rain with a cold and four inch heels for her to come outside but she snuck out another door cause someone somewhere else made the security guards mad. It was most definitely still worth it. She is amazing and plays a great show, especially how she doesnt put on a huge production. The music by itself is enough to blow my mind. Ok but this specific song, so many different ideas stuck into one. Note how gorgeous she can make the word sleep sound. Its like her music just goes a level deeper, ya know? Really pulls you in and makes you think. And on the video, she is adorable. I could probably go on about her for forever. Just take it all in.

This week in school we have been studying Buddhism (I know, what crazy things I am learning in college that have very little applications to my field of study) (but I secretly enjoy it). And this learning has been weirdly influencing me this week. No Im not Buddhist, I just want to do yoga right now. I also went to Bongo Java last night and somehow that caused me to be super productive, which was excellent cause I had lots to do. I think its just the atmosphere that causes me to work, cause its like im in the middle of something rather than sitting at my desk wondering whats going on in the world outside.

So Lady Gaga's Telephone video was getting too much hype for me to not let it distract me. And oh boy did it distract me for a good hour at least. Its pretty intense, a little all over the place, but interesting nonetheless. Definitely a different approach to music videos occuring right there. Although I didnt really understand what the video had to do with the song, which doesnt detract from the shock value, but also doesnt make too much sense. Fantastic clothes as usual (disregarding the lack of clothes though). Also note the Pomplamoose cover, which is fantastic (as to be expected). But its getting seriously late so Im out for tonight.

Today my head is filled with the sounds of Everything Will Be Alright by Golden Ages.

And it is a wondrous thing to have fill your head. It was playing in my car this week and I didnt even realize what it was until the end when I was just like whoa, what was that? It just builds itself so naturally that you can listen to it without even realizing you are. I also love how the singing isnt the main part in the song, interesting concept. It is ethereal and almost triumphant. They have lots of other great stuff as well, including some remixes and a free download on their website. And yes, I agree, everything will be alright. Listen.

Spring break has to a close just as everyone elses is beginning. It was much more eventful than I thought it was going to be. I went hunting for summer jobs. I visited University of Houston, which was real fun and is a real nice campus with lots of fountains. Went on a bike ride to get frozen yogurt (which is def one of my new favorite things). Got a massage. I saw my old band perform. Sadly, had a lot of encounters with ambulances and hospitals. I reconnected with so many people. I bought one of the coolest necklaces ever (and am proud that it is the only unnecessary item purchased over break!) Had a nice breakfast with the family. And am now back in nashville, quite suddenly it seems, and not looking forward to starting back up with my busier life. I literally have five things scheduled for tomorrow at 7:30. Yes I am aware that I am crazy, but thats how I live.

Today I love The Suffering by Coheed & Cambria.

Ive been in a harder rock mood lately, I enjoy changes like this. I know the singer's voice is really high, but once you get used to it, it is really good. Their songs are just exciting and build up to a pretty epic climax. Notice the girls voice in the background, nice touch. I first listened to this in my car, its definitely a good car song. I dont really understand the music video, not really my thing. However I do like how the lead singer looks nothing like his voice sounds, other than that its not worth watching. Do listen though!

I am back in the woodlands, and as usual, things havent changed here at all. Life in the woodlands seems to get put on hold until i return. I see the sun! and am wearing shorts; its been too long since that happened. I find that I am far less productive here, but Im trying to change that. Yesterday I just barely made it on my flight (they oversold it) and some man gave up his seat for me. Thank you amazing stranger! Alice in Wonderland was a fantastic movie! I have recently discovered the poet Charles Bukowski. Check out Cows in Art Class. I am about to have my first home-cooked meal in forever! Only those in college will understand the excitement. I also went on a bike ride today (another rare occurrence lately) so im feeling pretty content. This is my first post during the day, so have a good evening =)

Today Im listening to Edit the Sad Parts by Modest Mouse.

This is my official calm down song. Its so close to spring break so everything is just piling up and I am seriously lacking some sleep so this helps. For some strange reason if I listen to this song I just chill out, its a pretty neat concept. I love the raw sound and the interwoven instrumental and vocal parts. I feel like its always changing and I hear a different thing each time. You can really tell they mean what they sing, I appreciate that. The ending is quite satisfying as well.

This week has been crazy! I had the worst night ever a few days ago where I had to stay up until 4:30 doing homework (which consisted of watching a gospel version of Oedipus at Colonus, oh yes). And my suitemates and I are playing this awesome game to see who can smuggle the most fruit from the caf and I am definitely winning. Im still on the hunt for polaroid film and it has yet to be successful. I have completed my homework before 11:00 for the first time in forever so I am about to color. Ive found this website where you can print coloring pages and it has literally everything! I also bought my ticket for the Alice in Wonderland midnight showing, soooo pumped! And Ill leave you with this, and an apology for my nerdiness, but admit it, its pretty cool:

Today, my favorite, Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse by Minus the Bear.

Its just one of those perfect songs. Its a good mix of calm but energetic.It also puts a really good image in my head which I am going to try and paint over spring break. Its really just an excuse to try painting thought. I listen to this song all the time and it never gets old. It makes me want to go to France. I think ive been over this before, maybe it just means I need to go to France. I will. Anyways, just listen.

So on this crazy weekend, I took part in an epic random act of kindness. I bought a Buddy Holly album and a sick headband. I saw the play All My Sons. Found a brilliant cover of Pursuit of Happiness. Finally bought Contra by Vampire Weekend! And has no words to describe how amazing it is. I decided I am taking my camera everywhere. I saw this fantastic exhibit at the Frist Museum called New Urban Species which was mechanical sculptures that represented nature. Found the answers to a test review were online only after I spent hours actually doing it (quite disappointing). And discovered one of the most epic modern houses Ive ever seen in a suburb of Nashville. It looks like an alien spaceship. Today I looove You and I by Ingrid Michaelson.

Its amazing. Her voice is totally gorgeous. The lyrics are hilarious. And its so uplifting. I quite enjoy the big change into the rhythmic part at the end. If youre possibly feeling anything less than stellar, hopefully this will turn that around for you. Apparently the guy singing in the song is her producer. Thats pretty sweet and unexpected. I always wondered who that guy was cause it doesnt say. She is playing a show here in May so im hoping ill get in on that. hope you enjoy!

Speaking of shows, tonight I saw Taylor Swift and she was actually really great. Country is not really my thing; Im really trying to get more into, especially since Im in nashville and all. But I got free tickets to this show and it was real chill so why would i not check it out? I had never heard great things about her live performances but she sounded pretty solid on this one. I had lots of fun just being an excited fan while she danced around head banging and playing her bedazzled guitars. Im super glad I didnt skip out on this one.

This week so far has been real great. I was in an orchestra concert on tuesday night that was my favorite yet. The music was really exciting and fast and we got a standing ovation! Afterwards I went to go get free pancakes and IHOP for national pancake day. We got so lucky because basically you had to be seated before ten if you wanted them free and we got seated at 9:58! It was so worth it. Well its getting really late, as usual, cause ive been distracted by my suitemates watching german music videos, you could check out this one, its pretty legit. That is all.

Today I am in awe of Phones Don't Feud by Holiday Shores.

This is a recent find, like as of a few hours ago (theres more about that below) so I dont have much to say yet. Im loving the high side of the song, if you get what I mean. I saw these guys play a show tonight with CY, Turbo Fruits, and Surfer Blood. It was absolutely amazing. I hadnt been to a show in a while so I was real pumped. Nothing can replace live music and the atmosphere of being around people who love the music too. Everyone should go see a show as soon as they can; its always worth it. I went to see Turbo Fruits and ended up loving everyone who played, especially these guys. And to top it all off, Holiday Shores' singer looks like Corey from Boy Meets World (aka he was real cute!). We were also right up front which is always the best. It was nice to get out because I had spent the whole day doing research for another paper. College never quits. Im actually about to go tackle that essay after I write this. Or rather, right now.

Yesterday I was inspired by Welcome Home by Radical Face.

This song is such a comfort, to put it simply. Chorus is pretty amazing. And Im a huge fan of the clapping beat. And read the lyrics! Im big on lyrics lately and these are legit. I had a hard time choosing one for the title. If I could be welcomed home by any song, it would definitely be this. I literally found this song a few days ago while skimming my music library. I honestly only listened to it cause I thought the album cover looked real neat and I was wondering what song it was. Pure luck right there.

Yes this post was supposed to be for yesterday. I had it all planned out in my head and no time to write it because I was being an extra in a movie! Im not supposed to give out details yet but Ill warn everyone when it comes out and make sure we all go see it. Lets just say it was an amazing experience and Im so glad I did it. I had to get up at four in the morning though! So when we got back late that night I totally crashed. But here we go, I got it written.

Today I discovered Your Ex Lover is Dead by Stars.

Oh my goodness. How could I have overlooked this song? It has so many different elements that are just fantastic. I love how it starts out with an old sort of feel, then somehow transitions into a string section, then the voices are added. The layers are fascinating and they all seem to fit great. And there we go with all of those different instruments again.The lyrics too, they are genius. It makes me think of Paris for some reason; more specifically a street at night in Paris. But really, Id listen to it anywhere. A note on the video (since it is the actual music video), it seems reminiscent of one of my favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Its super amazing! so watch that too. Start a list or something. Both the song and the movie give a sort of deeper look at the concept of love. I enjoy it. I hope you do too.

Today I decided I would like to be an art critic. Im not sure what it even takes to be one, but it would be a great excuse to travel the world looking at art. Another thing to add to my bucket list. I really do love making lists. I bought a new notebook with a really cool cover to put them all in. I also had a performance tonight in a quintet. I havent been in a smaller group performance in a long time so it really got me excited. I should have more opportunities to perform coming up so now I just need to focus on practicing. Im working on that. That way I can get to the extra things I want to do, like write songs and beatbox on flute (if I ever figure that one out). No sense in rushing though, I have the rest of my life to do everything.

Today my favorite song is Razorblade by The Strokes.

First of all, I love The Strokes and anything by them is amazing. But this song in particular has been stuck in my head all day. I cant remember the circumstances surrounding the time when I first heard it, but I can remember my mind being blown. I especially love the guitar part (it is on my list of songs to learn if I ever get to learning guitar). Its great how they fit the guitar part inside the vocals. The lyrics make me laugh too. So good. While youre at it listen to Under Control by them as well. I cant pick which one is my favorite, which just goes to show how consistently epic these guys are.

Ive been slacking on this, sorry to the few of you who read this haha. School has been really busy lately. I just decided that I have officially taken on too much. But to be positive, I enjoy being insanely busy. I went to see Belmont's Rock Showcase on Saturday and it was amazing! If you ever find yourself in Nashville, check and see what music stuff is going on here cause I guarantee you will enjoy it immensely. I also dyed my hair this weekend! It was one of those middle of the night spontaneous ideas. I was hoping for it to turn out a much lighter brown but since my hair is so very dark it barely did anything. It just kinda gave it a red tint. Gradual change is probably better. My constant distraction has left me lots of work to do for the rest of the evening so this is all for today.

Today I question the necessity for some of this absurd schoolwork I have been given.

I am currently writing a paper on how the images on Achilles' Shield (from the Iliad) relate to everyday Bronze Age Greek life. Ridiculous huh? I wont deny that I am getting an amazing education and it is probably what is best for me. However, at this moment as I sit here at my desk surrounded by old-smelling books littered with post-it notes, all I can think about are the many other things I could be doing with my time that would be far more enjoyable. But instead those things pile up on my to-do-over-spring-break list. Work work work. Back to music,

Today I am comforted by Brothers on a Hotel Bed by Death Cab for Cutie.

I will confess that it took me far too long to listen to this song all the way through. The slow piano at the beginning turned me away too quickly. But once you get past that you can appreciate the song as a whole and just be calmed by it. There are some great lyrics too. I especially love how they slowly layer everything. You notice a different thing every time you listen to this song, but then again many songs are like that. I just realized that there is some weird music playing in the background of the beginning, listen for it. Then just relax. Thats what Im doing now that my paper is done =)

Today I cannot stop listening to Ambling Alp by Yeasayer.

It took me a bit to get into this song but obviously it has made a good impression on me because Im writing about it now. Im fascinated by how they add strange noises into songs and make it all work together. The music is all motivating and exciting. After doing some research I find that it is about boxing, even specific events, which surprises me. It is refreshing though to have an unexpected topic like that. But just listen to it already, its good, I promise. You can download it free off their website too, which is a little odd, just warning. But go for it. While on the topic of free downloads, I originally got this song from a playlist series that Urban Outfitters puts out every so often. Check it out. Its solid. For those of you who ask me where I find music from, this is one of the big places.

I have been reading far too much ancient literature today so music is a nice mind-cleansing end to my evening. Like really all Ive been reading has been about battles so its just lots of heads getting cut off and people being impaled. Quite intense. I didnt really do much this weekend, lots of sporadic working on homework. I wrote a pitch for a TV show last night around 1:00 (then I should say earlier this morning I suppose) in my favorite coffee shop with some friends. It was very contenting. I like talking to people about how things like that are what I do for homework because it is so unusual. I just love it! Perhaps Ill give details on that later. "Winter's cold is too much to handle"

Today I am loving the song Horchata by Vampire weekend.

I dont know all of the specific musical terms to describe this song, even though I am a musician, but Im hoping that wont matter too much. Im still quite young and learning. All I know is that this song is amazing! The first time I heard it I could not get over how epic the sudden explosions of sound were (listen and you will know what I am talking about). Its neat how they use unexpected instruments to create a really unique sound, I love it when artists do that. Honestly I have yet to hear a song from them that I did not like, and I have yet to hear a song that does not stand on its own in its uniqueness. Its almost as if the thing that distinguishes them is their variation from song to song. My other favorites are A-Punk and California English. Im actually finding it hard to put my feelings for these songs into words. Hm. I want to write down how a song makes me feel instead of all of its technical aspects; Ill work on that.

On a more personal note, I need to learn how to write these faster cause they are taking time out of my homework, which I am slowly getting behind on. I had to read about classical Greece today which was exciting for me because I am a total nerd when it comes to art history. The Nike of Samothrace is probably my favorite piece from that time. I would post a picture but the "infringing on copyright" thing is still confusing me (we wont risk it until I understand). Its nearly unbelievable how an artist can sculpt marble to look like flowing fabric and make the Nike seem in the middle of an action. I do wish it still had a head though, I try not to let that ruin it for me :P

My neighbors somehow ended up with a trash bag full of leftover bagels from Panera, which of course I allowed them to share with me. So my stomach is feeling pretty great right now. Its been a solid day. I think Im slowly getting the hang of this blogging thing, its alot harder than I thought.

Ive never blogged before. Hopefully Ill catch on quickly.

Im just a college student who is obsessed with creativity and is having the time of my life right now. I have been quickly yanked from your standard suburban town into a lively and unbelievable city which has led me to this idea of having a blog. Sometimes I am just so overwhelmed (in a good way of course) by the amazing things that people can create and often I just want to share these things.

These are my findings and experiences.
